Getting a Library Card
Any child who who lives or goes to school in Plainfield may apply for a library card. Applications for children must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. The Children's Library offers a growing collection of parenting books geared to assist with your child's education at home and school.  Below are some titles available in our collection:

Teachers
If your students are working on special assignments, you may call the Children's Library and we can hold materials for your class. Also, class visits to the library help kids understand the resources available to them.  Class visits are scheduled in advance and last approximately an hour. Due to space availability and in order to serve you better, only one classroom may visit at a time.  To schedule a class visit please fill out this form, or call us at 908-757-1111 ext 129.

Special Services
Librarians participate in a wide array of community education and assistance work throughout the year. Our staff regularly participates in the following:

  • Reaching out to schools and students throughout the year.
  • Meeting with teachers and media specialists to help support the school curriculum.
  • Helping students with homework assignments.
  • Suggesting recreational reading materials.
  • Speaking to school assemblies.
  • Presenting book talks.
  • Promoting important programs such as the Summer Reading Program.
  • Outreach to community groups
